Senior Year Feels Like It’s Moving Too Fast
Senior year feels like it’s speeding by. One moment you’re planning for the year ahead; the next, milestones are already happening. Events, deadlines, and emotions seem to stack up quickly, and you may find yourself wanting to slow it down—without knowing how.
CHECK FIRST
Before trying to regain control, pause and ask:
Am I reacting to the pace—or to the emotions underneath it?
Are there moments I’m already missing because I’m focused on what’s coming next?
Is everything moving quickly—or just certain parts?
What feels most important to hold onto right now?
Time often feels faster when emotions are full.
THEN
Choose a response that helps you stay grounded.
Option 1: Narrow your focus
You might choose to be fully present for just a few meaningful moments rather than trying to capture everything.
Option 2: Create small pauses
Simple rituals—like a quiet drive, a weekly check-in, or a shared meal—can slow the experience even if the calendar stays full.
Option 3: Allow mixed emotions
It’s okay to feel both grateful and unsettled at the same time. Letting both exist can ease the pressure to control the pace.
PAUSE
You don’t have to make time slow down to be present. Meaning isn’t found by doing more—it’s found by noticing what’s already here. You’re allowed to stop here.
NOTES / REFLECTION
If it helps, consider writing:
What moments do I most want to remember from this year?
Where can I intentionally slow down, even briefly?
What might it look like to trust this season as it unfolds?
