I’m Afraid of Missing Something Important

I’m Afraid of Missing Something Important

You have a lingering sense that there’s something you should be doing—but you’re not sure what it is. It might surface late at night, after a conversation with another parent, or when you think about how fast the year is moving.

CHECK FIRST
Before assuming something has gone wrong, pause and ask:
Do I have evidence that something specific has been missed?
Am I reacting to uncertainty—or to a real requirement?
Have deadlines been clearly stated—or just implied?
Am I carrying responsibility that isn’t fully mine?
Fear often sounds urgent, even when nothing is actually due.

THEN
Choose a way to steady yourself.

Option 1: Clarify what’s concrete
Write down what you know versus what you’re assuming.

Option 2: Focus on the current season
You don’t need to solve the entire year at once.

Option 3: Ask one clear question
A single clarifying question can replace hours of worry.

PAUSE
Senior year doesn’t require perfection. Staying present and responsive matters more. You’re allowed to stop here.

NOTES / REFLECTION
You might jot down:
What triggered this fear?
What do I actually know right now?
What would help me feel grounded?
