I Feel Guilty for Not Enjoying This Season
I Feel Guilty for Not Enjoying This Season
You feel guilty for not enjoying senior year the way you thought you would. There are meaningful moments—but there is also stress, worry, and complexity. Both can be true.
CHECK FIRST
Pause and consider:
Am I expecting constant enjoyment?
Are multiple emotions present at once?
Am I judging myself for how this feels?
Would I offer myself the same grace I’d offer another parent?
Mixed emotions are common during seasons of transition.
THEN
Choose a way to release self-judgment.
Option 1: Allow the season to be layered
Joy and heaviness can exist together.
Option 2: Stop measuring how it “should” feel
Real experiences don’t follow a script.
Option 3: Notice moments without forcing meaning
Small moments still count, even if they don’t feel big.
PAUSE
You don’t have to enjoy every part of this season for it to matter.
NOTES / REFLECTION
If it helps, reflect on:
What moments feel meaningful right now?
What feels heavy?
What might self-compassion look like in this season?
